Why do a Liver Cleanse?

I just finished a 5 day cleanse.
If you don't know, this organ's job is to process all of the toxins we ingest into our bodies and is crucial for a healthy and functioning immune system. We ingest A LOT of toxins every day. In traditional Chinese medicine, our physical health and emotions are significantly connected. Every emotion affects a specific organ in the body. The liver stores the feelings of anger and irritability. Since I am a big believer in the emotional component as much as the physical, I took this as an opportunity to go inward and see what sits below this hot blooded Italian's anger. By day 3, I was so friggin emotional I decided to turn off my phone for 24 hours (this was amazing btw) and go within. Deeply within. I read, journaled, played music, got really angry, got really frustrated, cried, meditated. I had memories of things that I had totally forgotten about. Conversations with my deceased dad about why we have so much anger. No vices. Just me and all. this. anger.
On the final evening of this particular cleanse, you are directed to drink a crazy concoction that loosens up old toxic bile ducts/gallstones that get stored in the liver and gallbladder. By morning, you basically poop out a bunch of rocks. It's pretty amazing. I was able to release so much, emotionally and physically. Everything came up that needed to go at this time (the stones too 🙋🏻). Our bodies are very wise. I am on the other side now. I feel extremely light and peaceful. Soft and clear. I always say, the only way out is through. A cleanse is a great way to clear out all the old and create space within for the new and better.
